Areas of Specialization:

Holly is a founding member of Law Cooperative LLC, focusing primarily on intellectual property counseling and transactions and energy and environmental initiatives.

Holly specializes in the areas of U.S. and international technology licensing and acquisition as well as advising clients on intellectual property strategy, protection and commercialization. She also counsels clients on copyright, trademark and open source matters including prosecuting trademarks and copyrights. Holly has particular expertise in the healthcare information technology industry including patient privacy / HIPAA issues. Stemming from her years as in-house counsel to a software company, Holly advises clients on a variety of common day-to-day legal issues such as human resources, corporate and administrative matters.

Holly is in charge of building the firm's green technology intellectual property practice, including representing a start-up alternative energy technology company on corporate, licensing and financing matters.

Holly spearheads the firm’s commitment to pro bono and community outreach initiatives, a core tenet of Law Cooperative. Holly is an advocate for the non-profit Communities for Restorative Justice, she has been nominated to a local community alternative energy committee and has been active in researching, writing and submitting formal comments on clean energy projects in response to proposed government rules and regulations.

Holly is the author and presenter of many legal papers in the energy and environmental field and has several publications in the realm of intellectual property.

Experience:

Prior to founding Law Cooperative, Holly served as Director, Corporate Counsel at Sentillion, Inc., where she was responsible for day-to-day legal requirements of a venture-backed, start-up company, including contract negotiations, human resources matters, intellectual property concerns, healthcare privacy issues, maintenance of corporate records and selection of and coordination with outside counsel. Holly drafted and negotiated license agreements with end-users, vendors, distributors, resellers and other strategic partners. She directed a robust intellectual property program; coordinated the patent and trademark docket; provided legal expertise in connection with integration of third-party software products and open source software and coordinated acquisition of technology from third parties to support new product lines. Holly counseled management on employment issues involving hiring, termination, discrimination, immigration, intellectual property protection and state employment laws. She managed litigation for various issues from discovery through settlement including overseeing a patent infringement lawsuit and mediating a contract dispute. Holly managed corporate governance matters for the company and provided general legal support for marketing initiatives and administrative matters of insurance, banking, operations and real estate. She also investigated intellectual property, employment, export, corporate structure and tax consequences of expanding into government sales and foreign markets and managed outside U.S. and foreign counsel in connection with such activities.

Prior to Sentillion, Holly was an Associate at Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, PC, a Boston, Massachusetts based intellectual property law firm where she worked in numerous practice areas including patent prosecution and counseling, trademark prosecution and counseling, intellectual property licensing and litigation.
